I already pre-ordered your NEW BOOK, so I messaged my wonderful local library--Petoskey District Library--and suggested that they buy the original "I'm Still Here" AND the young readers version. When they say they have bought them (and I'm pretty sure they will), then I'll suggest it for their community read. Oh, maybe a multi-generational community read?
Thank you for writing a young-readers version. I will pass it on to my two multi-racial grandkids someday. (They are 3 years old now.) Actually, maybe I'll pass it on to their adoptive parents (white, always learning, always keeping them connected with his Black mom, sibs, cousins, etc., and always trying to find them opportunities to build relationships with more Black people.) as soon as I finish it. Or I'll buy them their own copy if I can't part with it, like the original! I originally borrowed it through the inter-library system, then bought it because I loved it so much!
