I have read this book over and over... out loud to my children (now nearly 50), by myself, and with my book club. My favorite part is the when the Herdmans bring the ham instead of gold, frankensense and myrrh! I need to re-read this again this year. Thanks for reminding me!!

I read it to my kids every year! And EVERY year I cry at that scene with line you quoted. It’s so powerful to me...her face shining with tears and her understanding of miracle in the ordinary...ah, I just love it.

What fills me? Today, it was this post. πŸ™‚

I love this book and I loved your last post on it and I love this one. Hard to pick a favourite part...the cat loose in the classroom. Mrs whatshername always calling at dinner. Imogen being the best fierce Mary. Gladys 'shazam!! Out of the black night the mighty Marvo!' I love it all.

Wonderful post. I experienced the change in myself during my first Christmas as a mom. I was so excited. I read my daughter (now 23) this story as it had been read to me. I reread it each Christmas along with all the Christmas books we have. I may not have a baby anymore, but I still hold all these things in my heart.

Imogene has to be my favorite one. She showed me a picture of Mary that broke and thrilled my heart. I’ve never had the privilege of being a mother, but I have certainly mothered more than a few children. One of my life’s greatest joys and gifts. πŸ₯°πŸ’
