It is not uncommon for people who are activists to wonder what they would do with their lives if they didnt feel called by some force greater than ourselves to try to change the world. Ive tossed around a lot of answers to that question, but after becoming a home owner, I think I know the answer. I love, love, love power tools and interior design. Hopping from apartments to apartments never let me do much with my love for either. But now my love can flourish, and it has! For March I present to you my library makeover!
Wow this is GORGEOUS!!! I love how you displayed your moments. I have an old school tape recorder that I used to interview my grandma about her childhood when I was in college...I never thought to set it out where I can see it, love that. I think my dream room would be a screened in porch or a sun room with screened windows that could open for a breeze, where I could see a garden/trees and watch the birds while i read or journal or eat, that's when I feel closest to myself when I can see the trees and birds. Thanks for sharing your home reno photos I love this stuff!
I LOVE this! It's so cool to me to see creative thinkers/writers let their creativity show in other ways. I firmly believe one art form can "beget" another art form. I so appreciate you sharing this, and the way you share yourself with your words. Hoping this library feeds your soul.
Love your pictures and ideas. You have another potential career as an interior designer!! Ikea is super popular in Canada as well, helping students decorate dorm rooms to singles needing inexpensive furniture to parents and so on. My favourite shade of teal looks like Caribbean water blue. And pale yellow. Those are my favourite paint colours. I need cheery things to get me thru winter and yellow is it. I have a small collection of tiffany style lamps (2) and my mom's antique sewing machine. It's a tiny black machine with gold lines. It still works. It's probably my favourite keepsake of my mothers things. I also made a shadow box of my mom a few months after she passed. It's so meaninful.
I used Mom's sewing machine to make my own curtains. They are very simple. Im working on 2 sets. One cool set for summer and a warmer brighter set for winter. Just hem and buy those little hooks with clips on them. That's it. My favourite place to buy fabric is Spoonflower in the US. You can get samples, fat quarters and yards or metres (for Canada). I used a bunch of samples to make my first quilt for my little cousin. It's all shades of teal because I'm obsessed with that colour to decorate and to wear. I also made that on my mom's machine with help from my aunt who is a lifelong quilter. Thank you for sharing your makeover Austin. Everybody is a creative whether its writing, cooking, sewing, knitting, painting, colouring, decorating and the list goes on.

Love it!!! I’m so impressed
That room has a gravitational pull, how could you want to be anywhere else? Unique, well-curated and doesn’t break the budget. Five thumbs up!
