Breakfast for dinner, walking the dogs, and folding laundry (while finishing up a Hallmark Christmas movie). I can't do anything about the election results, but I can keep my house clean and love my family well.
I sat outside reading a book & I plan on finishing it tonight after I get haircuts & dinner with my son. Definitely no tv or social media for most of the evening.
Training to do ballot curing and meeting with friends who live in different places of the US. Also crying in the hugeness of this moment, the possibility of a new day.
I'm going to focus in things that keep my hands busy and give me immediate results like the dishes and keeping close to my husband, and most importantly not doom scrolling.
I've been poll standing and feeding volunteers. Even though our country feels divided everyone showing up at the polls feels like a fellow American participating in our democracy. I am confident there is a GREAT number of like-minded people voting to continue our democracy and preserve our rights. If it's not enough to win this election, I'll be extremely disappointed in our fellow Americans and will continue to press on for equity and justice. A pep talk from my state's Attorney General this past weekend was helpful too!

Austin...I usually end up having to thicken this soup and I'm not sure why, but with flour/water or Wondra or something,
I usually serve this in bread bowls with a pat of butter on top of the soup.
This recipe is in a book called "The Art of Making Real Soups," by Marian Tracy. I've made this recipe dozens of times and like it even better than a clam chowder that wins awards annually from a restaurant on the Central Coast of California. I got the book back in the 1970s from one of those "cookbook" of the month clubs. I was in my early twenties. I'm now 73 and grateful I hung onto this little book. Enjoy!
I baked cookies and chatted with friends. My teen boys who are both pretty withdrawn are engaging in great conversation about the election and I am thankful for that silver lining to this anxious evening.
For the past 6 years I have triaged and resolved voter complaints for LDF - for my own well-being as much as anything. It doesn't alter outcomes but it keeps me otherwise occupied. (I can't knit. I let the laundry go unfolded.) It feels less like everything is spinning out of control to do something related to the election. I don't know what I will do for the next several hours but it is unlikely to involve tuning into the news.
Did my daily meditation time as usual. Off Facebook by 6 pm, TV goes off at 7 pm. Will be in bible study. I'll either read or watch a movie till bedtime.
I went for a walk with a good friend. I went to church with other good friends and sat in the nave for awhile. Good vibes. Good bones. Went to see my mother--who has dementia and does not recognize there is an election today--but we went to a class about the agricultural contributions of the Indigenous People of our land, and we made corn husk dolls. And I changed our sheets and put on solid blue.

I ate such a big breakfast today!

Knitting baby clothes for donation later this fall. Along with judicious applications of chocolate.
I saw a few people are working on handmade Christmas gifts and feels like such a lovely way to spend the evening
Yoga this morning - and work to keep me occupied on being an advocate for others
No watching election results for me. A friend and I are going to a make-and-take at our local greenhouse. Then home to read or watch a movie. 🔵🔵🔵

Nice. Ballot curing is so important. It's the forgotten stepchild of election work. Crying is also understated.

Loved these suggestions. ❤️

And, also, I bought more wine. Because...
I definitely bought boozy ice cream
