One of my current favorite Troublemakers is Rep. Cori Bush. When I woke up hearing that Juneteenth had become a nationally recognized holiday, I was so thankful to read her words:

“It’s Juneteenth AND reparations. It’s Juneteenth AND end police violence + the War on Drugs. It’s Juneteenth AND end housing + education apartheid. It’s Juneteenth AND teach the truth about white supremacy in our country. Black liberation in its totality must be prioritized.” - Cori Bush

Yep. I am disturbed about the ‘why’ behind passing a federal holiday but not passing federal reform. I am pissed about the ‘why’ behind a federal holiday that many people have (rightfully so) pointed out will be confusing if history lessons are restricted from educating students on slavery occurring in the first place.
