I’m tired y’all. Are you tired? The news is constantly overwhelming, always changing and seemingly in competition, debatable, elusive. Politics is personal and things are getting VERY personal as we near November. Having deep, authentic conversations seems nearly impossible. And not *why won’t everyone agree with me* impossible, but a true inability to engage in what was actually said or written. Everyone wants to be right, and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to find people willing to say “this is what I’ve been thinking about, but hell if I know if this is true- what do you think? What do you see? What are you experiencing?”
Thank you!! I sometimes feel drained by the micro aggression, the not knowing, the struggle, the anger, and even the joy felt exhausting today. Thank you for reminding me of my humanity.
Oh I needed needed needed this tonight. I’m hopeful. And weary. Connected. And alone. I’m joyful and teary. And I will be rereading your words and letting them wash over me. Thank you! Also— in case you didn’t know, the Philip Touring cast of Hamilton has a group reading your book. And so me and a bunch of other Hamilton fans are doing the same. An online book club of your important work. With friends all over the country who have not yet met. So thank you for that too.
“I’m tired of the ways we repeat the same old platitudes and let the hard conversations get bypassed for simplicity and convenience.” Thank you for this.❤️
The inability to have meaningful conversations about controversial issues/concerns is so EXHAUSTING! In the past week, I've made several 'comments' about a posting, then went back and deleted them telling myself, 'they don't care'. They don't care about truth or facts or reliable sources. They don't care to talk deep, share fears and hopes, and touch hearts -- they just want to click a snarky headline, share propaganda, perpetuate lies and untruths. They don't care! I care. So many things are important; so many things need fixing. It's good to remember that it's good as well -- as you point out, there is beauty, there is joy, there are others who think and care deeply. Thank you.

Gift. Thank you.
