Dear Troublemakers,
As we wind down on 2021, I just need to gush over for you for a sec. You make this Black girl from Michigan who could talk ALL DAY about race and justice and joy and dignity feel supported and loved. This year would have been less bright without your comments, ideas, reflections and questions. Without YOU! I’m so glad you’re still here.
Last week at the Troublemaker’s zoom, we spent a lot of time on the topic of racism and housing. I suggested a few books - Family Properties + The Color of Law (start with Family Properties - trust me). Then my favorite thing happened - you added more suggestions! Check out this less than 20 minute video called Segregated By Design and read about Photographer Tonika Johnson’s ‘Folded Map’ Project. I love learning from y’all. This was our last Troublemaker Zoom of 2021 but we will be back in January with more questions, answers, resources and community.
