I could have written every word of this myself. My husband calls me a book hoarder 😆 I have good intentions. As a child it was Judy Blume and up to my twenties it was Eric Jerome Dickey. I always had a book or two going. I purchased the The Water Dancer but haven't started it. I appreciate your review and suggestions.

"On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous" by Ocean Vuong falls under the 'so beautifully written, you can hardly stand it' category. There's a lot of pain, but that book gave me a whole new perspective of what beautifully arranged words can do. He's a poet, a master of the craft, and only like 30 years old. He's so good, it hurts.

I just finished The Water Dancer Friday night. I stayed up late to finish and tried to go to sleep right after, but all that did was lead to me lying in the dark with tears rolling down my cheeks. I'm going to be thinking about that book for A LONG time.

Water Dancer was my absolute favorite read of 2019, and I read over a hundred books!

I will definitely check out the other book you mention.

Even though I read a lot I still have many books that I buy to support the author but don’t get read (yet).

I love this!! I am going to look at both of these. I still love books, the little and the large, the deep and the shallow. As a writer and a reader, I love the stories of pain but I also love the stories of joy - all the stories. I think that they are all important in their own way. One of the most memorable books I read recently was one that I read for my book club called The Humans - it is definitely fantasy, and a beautiful look at the question - what does it mean to be human. Happy writing and happy reading.
